The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) is a research institution under the Biotechnology and Innovation Research Council (BRIC-CDFD) funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. BRIC-CDFD provides services in the areas of DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics and performs cutting edge research in several frontier areas of modern biology, Dissertation based research training programme invites applications from interested individuals to undertake. Candidates will work in a laboratory for a minimum period of 4 months and a maximum period of 6 months based on their research interest.
Eligibility:
  1. Candidates pursuing M.Sc. / M.Pharm / M.Tech (during any semester) or B.Pharm / B.Tech / Integrated M.Sc. (from the third year onwards) in any branch of Life Sciences are eligible to apply for this program.
  2. The plicants should have first class throughout their Academic Career, i.e. 10th, Intermediate or 12th and Degree (till the previous semester).

Application Procedure:
Interested candidates can opt for one of the following application procedures:

Option 1: The candidate can directly submit the online application. Labs will be allotted based on the applicant’s research interest and statement of purpose. Please note applications are opened once a year (usually in October), and selected candidates are notified in November. They are free to start the training anytime within the next year (till December).

Option 2: Candidate having specific research interest can directly contact CDFD Scientists / Group Head and discuss specific research questions they want to work on. Candidates are free to contact the Group Head throughout the year. A minimum of two months, from the starting date of the training, is required for processing your application. Please note that your selection will also depend on slots available in that particular laboratory.

Candidates applying via option 2, once they are selected, can fill the online application along with written consent letter from the Group Head.

The applicants should also furnish a bonafide certificate from their Institute / University.
An online application, including areas of interest and Statement of Purpose (200 words/1500 characters) is to be filled and submitted.

Hostel Accommodation
CDFD will make attempt to provide, at no charge, accommodation during the period of fellowship on first come first serve basis subject to availability. However, you will have to pay for your food and other expenses. Local candidates will not be provided any accommodation.

Candidates have to submit a proof of having a Health & Accidental Insurance Mediclaim policy of a minimum of 1 Lakh each in their name at the time of joining.

In cases where the candidate joins the program and wants to discontinue without completion of the program (minimum residency period of 4 months), no project completion certificate will be provided.

Application Fee:
The candidates applying for the training are requested to pay an application fee as detailed below:

The application fee / program fee will be collected online only through NEFT transfer to CDFD account as per the details given below. Any additional Transaction Charges will be paid by the Candidate.

Caste certificate in case of SC/ST, Disability Certificate in case of Physically Challenged candidate, or EWS Certificate if applicable, issued by the Competent Authority, should be enclosed with the application. Interested candidates who fulfill the above conditions may register their names by applying in the prescribed application form online at cdfd.org.in.


The last date for submitting online application is 15.10.2024 after which the online gets closed.

Incomplete Applications and Applications without the caste / disability certificate / EWS certificate (if applicable) are liable to be rejected.

The names of selected candidates will be displayed on our website – in November’ 2024. The training can be carried out for a maximum of six months between December 2024 to December 2025. Actual dates of training will be decided based on mutual consent between the selected candidate and the faculty. Certificates would be issued to candidates on completion of the term.
